With parts of the country under strict COVID-19 lockdown orders and five Tokyo 2020 Olympians sidelined in hotel quarantine, Australia rallied to achieve another good result in this month’s match with Solomon Islands and hold onto third place in the OWF Premiers League.
Team Samoa demonstrated its might once again in this round and the Samoans look to be just as unbeatable in 2021 as they were last year. New Zealand currently sits in second spot, but they have yet to face-off against Samoa. The Aussies will have to win all their remaining matches to move ahead of the Kiwis, including of course the all-important head-to-head clash with New Zealand in Round 6 in November.
Australia meets Nauru in the next round on 24th – 26th September.
