In other news from the 2024 AGM, the members voted unanimously to establish an AWF Athletes’ Commission by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

And there was unanimous support to amend the AWF Constitution to extend the mandatory hiatus period of a Director who has served the maximum number of consecutive terms. The one-year period of ineligibility will become three years once the required change to the constitution is registered. The maximum length of consecutive service remains at three terms.

The members at the AGM also recommended that the AWF canvass State Associations to gauge the viability of establishing a committee to:

  • Recognise and promote awareness of past members’ contributions to the sport
  • Mark important historical occasions
  • Take responsibility for historical record keeping
  • Assist state and national administrators to establish and maintain contact with former National Team members
